It is said that, till last year the lower age limit for appearing in NEET exam was 17 years which means the applicant need to have 17 years of age as on date of admission or as of 31st December of that year. By this we can know that, only those candidates who are having 17 years or more can only apply for NEET.
When it comes to the upper age limit that has been introduced by the MCI, the maximum age or the upper age limit is 25 years as on date of exam. Also an age relaxation of 5 years is applicable for the applicants belonging to the OBC, SC and ST category. This information has been given in the NEET information brochure of the last year, but soon after its release with age limit details, it met with lots of controversies and opposition from the people. Even the Supreme Court has asked the MCI to look after the age limit. As an answer to that, the Medical Council of India has stated that, young students will have more ability for grasping the knowledge and those below 25 will have more capability for pursuing medicine. Anyhow, some also say that candidates who just have passed the 12th standard need to compete with the students much older than them preparing for this entrance test since many years. This will give tough competition for the young students and this is not the right justice for the younger once and so the maximum age limit has to be set.
For the NEET 2017 exam, the Supreme Court has ruled that there will be no upper age limit for the candidates appearing for that year. As NEET 2017 has been completed, now it’s time to know about the NEET 2018 Age Limit Decision that is made by the CBSE MCI. Let us know those details from below.
